How to check age eligibility for a government form
Government notifications state both a minimum and maximum age and then fix one cut-off date. Your eligibility is judged only on that date. Enter your date of birth exactly as it appears in your matriculation certificate, set the cut-off date from the notification, and read the completed years shown above.

Frequently asked questions
How is age calculated for government job forms?
Government notifications fix a cut-off date and your age is counted as it stands on that date, not on the day you fill the form.
What does age as on date mean?
It means your completed years, months and days on a specific date. If a form says maximum age 30 years as on 01.08.2026, you must be 30 or younger on that exact date.
Is age relaxation different for SC, ST and OBC?
Yes. In most central government notifications the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC, and up to 10 years for persons with benchmark disabilities.
Does the cut-off date change for every recruitment?
Yes. Each notification sets its own cut-off. SSC commonly uses August 1, UPSC uses August 1 for civil services, and state commissions use their own dates.
My birthday falls exactly on the cut-off date. Am I eligible?
Yes. Age is counted in completed years, so if you turn the maximum age exactly on the cut-off date, you are still within the limit in most notifications.
